Job Description

ROLE:The Traffic Control Manager is responsible for supporting and managing the project site specific Traffic Management Plan. Must be qualified to assume the responsibilities of this function and must have experience in all Traffic control, including lane closures, road closures, median crossovers. Must be familiar with dynamic message boards, arrow boards, SLAT, high speed, high volume roadways and municipal/City roadways.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Must be qualified, knowledgeable about traffic management principles and requirements, experienced in traffic management work or has equivalent training
    • Prepares, implements, and manages SMJV’s TMP and TCPs
    • Monitors traffic operations to determine the effectiveness of the TCPs
    • Ensures that the TMP remains current
    • Oversees modifications to the TMP as required by changes to the construction schedule, accommodation of special events, and changes to sub-plans
    • Ensures that daily traffic control logs are maintained
    • Exercises full line authority over all TCPr on the work site
    • Finalizes traffic control measures with the SMJV Traffic Engineer where as required by TMEP
    • Sets up and implements a monitoring schedule for both active and inactive work periods throughout the course of the project
    • Provides information to the TMEP SE&CT for Public Information Plans
    • Directs SMJV’s Implementation Plan
    • Attends regular meetings with TMEP Traffic Inspectors and Road Authority Representatives
    • Ensures traffic control arrangements and procedures for the work are made known to all personnel involved in the work (Part 18.4 of WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Qualifications & Experience
    • 3-5 years’ experience in a traffic supervisory role
    • Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Traffic regulations
    • Standardized Traffic Control Training required
    • Traffic Control design experience
    • Proficient and professional communication skills; verbal and written
    • Ability to maintain a professional attitude in high pressure settings.
    • Manage all traffic control staff on site
Skills and Knowledge
    • Understanding of the oil and gas pipeline construction industry.
    • Ability to effectively work teams.
    • Ability to represent the Company in front of the Client and the local community in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Ability to effectively communicate in large crowd settings.
    • Ability to read and understand relevant documentation pertaining the successful and safe completion of each project (legislation and other industry specific standards/practices).
WORKING CONDITIONS:This position will be working on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) located in the Kamloops Urban Area and/or Merritt BC for the various construction stages. The schedule will be Monday to Saturday, 12 hours per day. Accommodations or an Accommodations allowance is provided for those greater than 80kms from the project location.
