POSITION SUMMARY: The Transportation Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting all transportation compliance functions for the entire MasTec Canada organization. Preference will be given to those candidates living in and around Acheson, AB however qualified candidates based in other Alberta locations will also be considered.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Update and maintain all elements of the MasTec Transportation Safety Program including: driver approval requirements, transportation safety booklets, qualified driver requirements and vehicle sign out procedures
  • Coordinate driver training orientation programs including training for TDG, WHMIS and Defensive Driving
  • Set-up NSC drivers in Titan (Electronic Driver Log software) and train NSC drivers on use and expectations of the EDL tablets
  • Coordinate NSC compliance training such as Load Securement, Trip Inspections and Log Books
  • Review driver information, complete driver Abstract/MVR checks and maintain all driver files and approval status (e.g. contact drivers for missing information)
  • Build driver files in SharePoint and enter driver information in Vista (MasTec’s ERP)
  • Review daily logs for compliance issues and advise management of compliance concerns
  • Develop and implement an auditing tool to proactively ensure compliance to legislated and internally developed standards
  • Establish and generate a variety of monthly transportation safety reports (e.g., ELT oversight on GPS data, NSC Carrier Profile status and transportation, etc.)
  • Work with MasTec safety advisors to conduct investigations, determine causes of transportation related accidents
  • Lead investigations to verify and resolve third party/customer complaints
  • Ensure GPS and tablets are set up for vehicles procured thru rental agencies
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations such as National Safety Code, Carrier Profile, etc.
  • Monitor, counsel, and document driver violations of any provincial, federal, or local laws or company policies or regulations; notify Human Resources of relevant violations
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance reporting expectations and confirm maintenance requirements are followed up on
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience delivering training to drivers on NSC regulations, Load Securement, Trip Inspections and Log Books is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian trucking regulations including Driver Hours of Service, Vehicle Maintenance & Inspections, Transportation of Dangerous Goods is required
  • Prior industrial or construction industry experience is an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license and current clean drivers abstract is required
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, SharePoint are required; knowledge of Titan GPS is an asset
  • Ability to quickly learn new software is required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are required
  • Self-starter capable of working under minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills are required

WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Acheson shop based position
  • Qualified candidates based in other Alberta locations will also be considered
  • Site travel required up to 20%
  • After hours emergency support

  • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
