Job Description

This contract position involves teaching introductory level Accounting and Finance courses within the career training business programs at VanWest College. The successful candidate will have a passion for education and student success and will inspire professionalism and cordiality when working with others.The following courses are available for the term starting on March 18th 2024.

  • Introduction to Accounting: This course will introduce the concepts of accounting within the context of business in a Canadian environment. Topics include accounting as an information system; introduction to accounting theory; income measure; traditional record-keeping; the accounting cycle; special journals; cash and financial statements.
  • Finance: This course provides students with an introduction to the theories, applications, and financial tools within a corporate financial environment. Topics include forms of business, financial statement analysis, ratios, cash flows, valuation of future cash flows, valuation of securities, raising capital, and project evaluation and analysis.
Education, Experienceamp; Required Skills:
  • Certificate in Accounting.
  • Experience teaching culturally diverse adult learners.
  • Excellent communications skills (written, verbal).
  • Proficient organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a multi-cultural collaborative team setting.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Note: Candidates with relevant industry experience willing to share their knowledge with young adult learners are strongly encouraged to apply.
Compensation: Each course requires 56 hours of in-class, instructor-led delivery every 8 weeks of an academic term.
