Job Posting: Archaeologist - Subarctic Boreal Field DirectorLocation: Vancouver, British ColumbiaAre you a highly qualified Subarctic Boreal Field Director looking for an exciting opportunity in the field of Archaeology Look no further! Join our dynamic team and enjoy a very competitive salary in the short term, along with stability of employment and ample opportunities for career advancement in the long term.Key Responsibilities:Conduct Pre Development Assessments of land in collaboration with Forestry, Oil and Gas, and Mining projects.Lead and manage field crews, acting as the Field Director for our projects in the Subarctic Boreal region.Utilize your expertise in BC Archaeology and be proficient in navigating challenging terrains, including swampy soil and frozen ground.Drive ATVs and ski doos to access remote sites efficiently.Requirements:A degree in Archaeology and/or recognition by the BC branch as a Subarctic Boreal Field Director.Minimum of 3 years #39; specialized experience in Subarctic Boreal Archaeology and related fields.Exceptional candidates with varying years of experience will also be considered, and a tailored position will be created for the right person.Proficiency in fieldwork, as 60-70% of the role involves hands-on work in the field.Ability to lead a team of 4 year-round staff, with an increase to 6-8 during peak seasons.Perks and Benefits:Flexibility in work arrangements, including the option to live in the area or fly in and out.Work schedule: 10 days in the field, 2 days for travel, and 4 days off.Overtime pay at 1.5x the regular rate and double pay after 12 hours of work.Choice between receiving overtime pay in money or banked time off for extra work hours.Excellent opportunities for career progression in a smaller firm that values its employees.Opportunity to gain qualifications and streamline Permit Holder abilities by taking on report writing responsibilities.
