“Helping immigrants build a future in Canada”Do you want to really make a difference for your community Join the Immigrant Services Society of BC, one of Canada’s largest immigrant-and refugee-serving organizations, as its CFO.THE OPPORTUNITYReporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working as a member of and advisor to the executive team of one of Canada’s largest immigrant-serving agencies, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for managing the financial operations of ISSofBC, ensuring the organization #39;s financial health and sustainability towards achieving its strategic objectives. The CFO will bring new perspectives, expertise and financial vision to enhance decision support for the leadership team, leading planning and execution for all finance activities, including budget development and management, full cycle accounting, financial information and reporting, investment management, enterprise risk management/compliance, process improvement and policy development, and supporting the development of business strategy.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONThe Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC) has a national and international reputation in the field of migrant issues and services for immigrants and refugees. Since 1968, ISSofBC has been providing a variety of support services for immigrants and refugees to help them get settled, find careers and learn all they need to know about starting their new lives in Canada. RESPONSIBILITIESA. Strategy and Counsel

  • Translate organizational strategy into financial and business objectives and priorities to achieve the organization’s plan, leading the development and implementation of the organization’s financial strategy and associated goals, KPIs / metrics, and business plans.
B. Financeamp; Accounting
  • Coordinate and lead the annual budget development process, ensuring organizational strategic and business goals and objectives are reflected and that individual budget holders and business unit leaders are supported in the effective and accurate development of departmental and program budgets. Provides analysis and advice to the organization’s ELT and SMG on cost forecasting and other financial data to support effective decision-making.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely development of all financial reporting, ensuring budget holders have the information necessary to manage departmental budgets and that funders and other partners have the reports necessary to validate and process ISSofBC revenue streams. Oversee the annual year end audit and all externally mandated audits.
  • Oversee AP and AR, ERP, finance and payroll systems, all organizational financial, accounting, and procurement processes, policies, and procedures across the full scope of the annual accounting cycle, ensuring that all legal, accounting, and externally-mandated standards are fully met.
C. Business Advisory Services
  • Oversee the organization’s financial risk management activities, including the development of risk assessment analyses and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead strategic financial planning and revenue forecasting processes, ensuring the organization has a clear analysis of potential scenarios and options necessary for ensuring ongoing financial sustainability; support and advise the CEO and Board of Directors in the oversight, monitoring, and stewardship of organizational subsidiaries and investment holdings.
  • Provide business development and financial change-management support to the organization’s business units, particularly its social enterprise initiatives, helping ensure the attainment of financial goals and objectives. Support the development of business planning activities where required.
D. Finance Departmental Oversight
  • Lead, develop and coach a diverse, dedicated, high-functioning and collaborative team that functions as a service-oriented, effective business partner to all program and operational departments in the organization and demonstrates a healthy, inclusive, equitable, and diverse team environment aligned with the organization’s values.
E. Relationship Building
  • Build and manage internal and external relationships to support the successful implementation of the organization’s financial goals and practices. Represent ISSofBC professionally and positively in the sector and the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA professional designation in good standing; MBA or other business, commerce, or leadership-related Masters-level degree an asset.
  • 10 years of related progressive financial leadership experience in a complex organizational setting, including 5 years at Director of Finance or CFO level.
  • Demonstrable track record of leadership and finance department management through full annual and multi-year accounting and financial cycles. Experience working in NFP / Social Impact contexts an asset.
