Job Description

Corporate Credit Manager Vancouver, BCOn-Site, Full-TimeReference Number: CAN-BC-NO-111-280524SUMMARYReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Credit Manager is responsible for minimizing bad debts while optimizing sales thorough administering and enforcing credit and collection policies; evaluating credit risk; following up and collecting from major accounts; working with troubled accounts to maximize recoveries; working with legal advisors where appropriate to assist in collection efforts; developing plans and strategies to reduce exposures and write-offs; and working with management to ensure an appropriate balance between credit risk and sales. This role supports all Doman Building Materials Group Ltd. businesses across North America.EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Manage credit staff and establish and maintain appropriate authority limits
  • Ensure the cash applications team receives accurate information to record collections
  • Personally manage large or doubtful accounts
  • Review credit requests that exceed limits set for the credit staff
  • Analyze credit risk and approve or decline credit requests
  • Follow up on collection calls escalated by the Credit Administrators
  • Guide staff on collections and dispute resolution with both internal and external customers
  • Monitor collections / aged accounts receivable, period percentages and days sales outstanding
  • Communicate with management on significant credit risks or accounts receivable issues
  • Ensure customer unearned discounts taken are addressed and resolved
  • Communicate with customers regarding outstanding accounts or disputes
  • Responsible for month-end, quarterly and year-end functions

RequirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESCredit Management
  • Minimum 5 years commercial credit risk and collection experience
  • Experience in a high volume accounts receivable department and with multi-million customer credit limits
  • Skilled at reading, analyzing and interpreting financial reports, credit reports and legal documents.
  • Experience with multi-customer “buying group” structures
  • Experience in national wholesale/distribution industry
Management Skills
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory/management experience in credit management.
  • Excellent communication skills for listening, asking questions and analyzing information to make timely and sound credit decisions
  • Tactful and diplomatic in communicating with internal and external customers and service providers at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to handle conflict
  • Experience with delegating, coaching and performance management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer Skills
  • Intermediate Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems
Education
  • Post-secondary education in business administration
  • Certified Credit Professional (CCP) designation required
Staff Supervision
  • Directly: 4 Accounts Receivable Representatives
  • Indirectly: 5 remotely located regional Credit Administrators
