Together, we strive to create and maintain working environments that are inclusive, equitable, and welcoming.Primary PurposeThe purpose of the Finance Assistant position is to monitor and maintain student financial accounts, ensure the collection of tuition fees, process refunds to qualified students, and provide accounting-related services to the campus.Under general supervision, the Finance Assistant is responsible for providing advice and guidance to support the financial needs of students and to ensure the collection of funds and refund distribution.Specific ResponsibilitiesThe Finance Assistant will be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the University.

  • Maintain financial accounts for all students, including regularly updating the records for tuition fees, deposits, scholarships, and promptly processing refunds to students’ accounts.
  • Handle refund requests from students while ensuring strict adherence to the University’s refund policy.
  • Occasionally manage accounts payable functions across the campus, making sure they run in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of the institution’s response to both internal/external audits related to business office operations.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by promptly addressing student inquiries related to their financial accounts and communicating effectively to enhance the student experience.
  • Actively engage with various stakeholders and departments on campus, ensuring open and effective communication.
  • Prepare daily financial reports and maintain organized files and records, as it is integral to ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position RequirementsTo be successful in the Finance Assistant position, an individual must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and interact with students.
  • Ability to maintain composure and handle complaints with a high level of professionalism.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to complete work in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as in a team setting.
  • Good judgment and capacity to effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Customer-oriented approach with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
Education and Experience:
  • 2 years of post-secondary education with a minimum of one year in Finance or Accounting program.
  • Experience working in a corporate setting with a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in the Accounting/Finance area.
  • Customer Service experience is an asset.
