Want to be part of the creation and construction of our cities Then the infrastructure team is for you!Looking to take the next step in your careerHatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Highways Engineer to join the Infrastructure group in our Highwaysamp; Bridges team in the Vancouver Office. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, in the role of Intermediate Highway Engineer, you will excel as a significant contributor to high-performance Transportation team as a significant contributor delivering high profile and multi-faceted transportation/road projects for a portfolio of regional/municipal clients in the Greater Vancouver Areas, including collaboration with Hatch’s transportation teams throughout the Western Canada (WCA) region as well as being a part of Hatch’s global network of entrepreneurs with technical soulsthroughout the world.As the successful candidate, you will:•Be part of a Project Delivery team involved in delivering regional/municipal road and highway design projects of various scale, size and complexities, involving rehabilitation, widening, urbanization of existing roads as well as new brownfield/greenfield road design, roundabouts, controlled access, etc.•Assist in scoping and formulation of design criteria in accordance with Client standards, based on a comprehensive understanding and familiarity of road design codes and standards, including TAC, British Columbia Highway Designamp; Geomatics, Standard Specifications for Highway Construction as well as Regional/Municipal specific road standards.•Develop quality design drawings with a support team of designers, involving multi-disciplinary collaboration.•Prepare technical reports, input to specifications, quantity take-offs, estimations.•Ensure that project design solutions are delivered to the highest standards and meet program and budgetary constraints.•Mentor and develop junior staff fostering a team approach.•Established working relationship with various clients such as municipalities and/or utility owners.You bring to the role:•Bachelor #39;s degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university.•Registered Professional Engineer or eligible to register.•3-5 years of highway engineering/design experience.•Experience of road/highway design including multi-lane roadways, urban right-of-ways (arterial, collector), traffic staging and sequencing.•Problem-solving skills to innovatively apply design criteria versus project constraints to achieve a compliant design.•Experience with public utilities (i.e. watermain, storm sewer, sanitary) codes and standards applicable to utility design would be an asset.•Comprehensive understanding and familiarity of road design codes and standards, including TAC, Regional and Municipal/Regional geometric road standards. •Solid understanding of engineering skills such as geometric design, grading, permitting, coordination with utility companies and the production of utility schemes of accommodation, and roadway drainage design.•Proficiency in CAD (MicroStation and/or Inroads and AutoCAD Civil 3D) and Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).•Experience in the production of plans, specifications, and Engineer #39;s estimates for roadway projects.•Understanding of engineering principles related to capacity and loading of municipal infrastructure and/or understanding of design principles related to the civil/cabling design of underground telecommunication/electrical infrastructure.•Experience interfacing with local utilities and agencies.•Knowledge of infrastructure network, utility coordinationamp; processes.•Technically strong working within multi-disciplinary teams.•Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (written and verbal); ambitious and self-motivated.Why join us
