Job Description

We seek to create an environment where everyone can find success in a career they are passionate about while contributing to a better future.The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager and oversee the Instrumentation engineering of a mine expansion project in Canada. The candidate will focus on providing technical oversite on the detailed engineering of the mill, crusher, floatation system, tailings, and relevant infrastructure to support the expansion of an open-pit copper mine. This project is located near Kamloops, BC, with project and engineering teams based in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will be supported to work remotely during the design phase of the project ( the first year). Candidates are required to travel to Vancouver approximately every 4 weeks, for 3-5 days to meet with the project team during the design phase, (costs covered). Candidates are expected to relocate to the Kamloops area during the construction phase of the project to oversee sight activities ( 1 year, schedule or rotational options up for negotiations). The Lead Engineer is responsible for:

  • Provide technical oversight on the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for a ball mill, sag mill, crusher plant, floatation circuit, and tailings system.
  • Have proven experience designing systems to measure, monitor, and control industrial processes.
  • Work directly with the owner #39;s team, operational team, and EPCM team to design, audit, and identify efficiencies to best meet the needs of the operation.
  • Provide engineering review on proficiency in instrumentation technology, control systems, and programming, and demonstrate a deep understanding of relevant engineering standards and safety protocols.
  • Identify and document risks associated with design, construction, safety, and the environment.
  • Forecast and develop cost models.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop work packages and support supply chain professionals in procuring materials, equipment, and services.
  • Provide engineering support to Project Managers, Contractors and Suppliers.
  • Stay relevant to industry best practices.

  • 10 – 15 years of experience in a Instrumentation Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer eligible to register with EGBC.
  • Experience on large scale projects in the mining industry.
  • Experience with process mills and crushers.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders including, but not limited to: Owner #39;s Engineering Team, Owner #39;s Project Group, EPCM Teams, Operational Teams.
  • Must work well within a multi-disciplinary and project team.
  • Strong communication and work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Must provide mentorship and guidance to junior and non-technical staff
