THE OPPORTUNITYTriton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Marine Biologists, at all experience levels, to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in our Vancouver office and be part of exciting ongoing projects that are integral to building the local and provincial community. This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working outdoors and who thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world-class projects that balance environmental stewardship with responsible resource development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting or leading field programs as directed by project requirements (e.g., baseline surveys and monitoring of marine fish and fish habitat, habitat offsetting, salvage, water quality, acoustics, marine mammal observations)
  • Providing technical skills, based on your experience, in marine aquatic biology with the ability to support or lead study programs that address the needs of a project
  • Supporting or providing advice with regard to regulatory requirements, environmental risks, and practical solutions in relation to marine projects
  • Helping with the preparation and submission of permit applications and reports that meet Federal, Provincial, and regional environmental regulatory requirements including habitat assessments and associated mitigation
  • Developing and submitting quality deliverables on time
  • Supporting the Business Development team in preparing proposal responses as well as fostering and building client relationships
  • Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
  • Working collaboratively within the Triton team culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in marine science
  • Understanding of applicable environmental legislation, regulations, and policies to ensure project-specific compliance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with critical thinking
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver #39;s licence from a Canadian province or territory, acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting
  • Willingness to keep up-to-date with current marine information and research
  • Willingness to travel to project locations
The following are not required, but some (or all!) would be an asset.
  • A registered professional biologist in BC (R.P.Bio.)
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and analyzing data for Ocean Sonics and CR-1 hydrophones (or similar)
  • MED-A2 or MED-A3
  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
  • Restricted Operator Certificate Maritime (ROC-M)
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1

The schedule is yet to be determined and could be subject to change at any time. COMPENSATONThe compensation range is dependent upon candidate experience and qualifications.
