The individual in this role will be tasked with processing and verifying a substantial number of payroll responsibilities within established timelines.Specific ResponsibilitiesThe Payroll Administrator is responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the University:

  • Process full-cycle Payroll.
  • Execute complete bi-weekly payroll processing for approximately 800 employees, with the workforce continually expanding across various departments and entities.
  • Process and input new hire information, salary adjustments, and resignations into the payroll system, cross-checking details against supporting documents.
  • Record timesheet data, vacation pay, sick leave, and unpaid leave accurately within the payroll system.
  • Facilitate the processing of bonus disbursements.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to manage benefit inquiries, including RRSP enrollment and related concerns from employees.
  • Address payroll inquiries from staff, management personnel, and external parties.
  • Generate intercompany invoices pertaining to payroll and benefits.
  • Handle queries related to payroll matters.
  • Contribute to the preparation of T4, ROE (Record of Employment), and T2200 forms.
  • Compile working papers for submissions to WCB (WorkSafeBC) and EHT (Employer Health Tax).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position RequirementsCompetencies:
  • Proficiency in upholding confidentiality.

  • Exhibits effective communication skills and collaborates with teammates and various departments.

Education and Experience:
  • A strong expertise in payroll legislation and protocols.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical involvement in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Experience working in Education industry is preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce is an asset.
  • Preference for candidates who are either in the process of obtaining or have completed the Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification.
  • Office 365 tools, including Teams, Word, Excel, etc. proficiency.
