Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Regional Nuclear Medicine Medical Physicist to join the Medical Imaging Quality and Safety team. Apply today to join our team!As a Regional Nuclear Medicine Medical Physicist, Medical Imaging with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Report to the Regional Leader, Medical Imaging Physics.
  • Be accountable for quality assurance and acceptance testing for all Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Bone Density (BD) imaging equipment, ancillary support equipment, and related nuclear medicine equipment operated by Nuclear Medicine Technologists at Lower Mainland sites (Fraser Health Authority, Providence Health Authority, Provincial Health Services Authority and Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
  • Work with other Medical Physicists on routine quality control related to x-ray imaging.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the medical applications of physics and works as a key team member with colleagues and co-workers in continually developing and improving methods to image body structure and function.
  • Have key partnerships with Clinical Practitioners, Medical Physicists, Regional Manager Quality, Quality Coordinators, Nuclear Medicine Regional Practice Lead (NM RPL), Operations Directors, Scientists, Nuclear Medicine Regional Radiation Safety Officer (RRSO), NM Supervisors/Site Radiation Safety Officers (SRSO) and Nuclear Medicine Technologists throughout the health authorities.

  • Membership with the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) in Nuclear Medicine or an equivalent body as recognized by the Health Authority is required at this level, or eligibility to write this and pass the membership exam within 1 year of hire.
  • PhD or Masters in Physics, or a related Biomedical discipline.
  • Two (2) years clinic experience is required.
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence is required. A personal vehicle is required for this role.

  • Skillfully develops meaningful indicators of quality and provides constructive reports based on the results of indicator monitoring.
  • Utilizes advanced level word processing, presentation and spreadsheet abilities in the development of documents, training materials, reports and to conduct statistical analysis.
  • Provides guidance to RRSO and site-specific RSOs on radiation safety issues.
