As a Senior Backend Developer at our Vancouver, BC office.We are seeking experienced engineers to help develop the next generation of the WineDirect platform; WD-2.0. You’ll be part of a team building all new omni-channel sales, marketing, loyalty, analytics and subscription automation services.As a Senior Backend Developer you are responsible for architecture, design and development of services and infrastructure in WineDirect #39;s AWS cloud. APIs, micro-services, real-time data streaming and big data analytics are some of the key technologies you #39;ll be working with. You’ll also be a thought leader whose opinion is important in making technical decisions that affect the platform.What you’ll be doing: Working closely with other developers, architects and product owners using Agile and SCRUM to create solutions and shape them into workable stories and plans.Design and develop software for a large-scale, cloud-based SaaS solution using open-source technologies.Deliver across the entire software app development lifecycle—design, build, deploy, test, and release.Writing clean, well designed, unit-tested, and efficient code.Peer-reviewing code and mentoring and supporting junior team members. Build strong partnerships with other teams internally and externally to solve problems, and ensure we deliver a cohesive customer experience.Other duties as assigned. Who you are:Candidates must possess highly developed sense of empathy, with a focus on ensuring the best experience for our partners, clients, and the end-consumer.8+ years of software development experience mainly focused on SaaS and containerized, cloud-based systems.Proficient in Ruby, Go, Java or C.Solid understanding of domain modeling and micro-service architectural patterns.Able to configure and deploy Kubernetes clusters, pod networks, auto-scaling and aggregate APIs with AWS EKS cloud.Design and develop RESTful APIs that work efficiently at high load with relational database backends.Experience with SQL (RDS, MSSQL), relational modeling, event streaming (Kafka) and Data Warehouse (Redshift, Snowflake).Thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the platform, database, API, caching layer, proxies, and other web services used in the system.Experience building and supporting distributed applications.Close familiarity with software engineering tools, software development methodology, and release processes.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, EE or equivalent experience.Why WineDirect: You will have the ability to transform the wine industry by facilitating winery’s ability to sell their products globallyYou’ll get to work with and support a stellar group of people who work together to care for our clients and their customersYou’ll be empowered to make decisions, both to get the job done and to further your careerWe have a competitive compensation package including medical, dental and vision coverage as well as Life, Long Term Disability and AD amp;D at no cost to the employee and a RRSP match plan.WineDirect is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
