We have systematically formulated and commercially de-risked technical concepts that will enable us to take significant strides towards our goal. This opportunity offers the chance to join our journey in bringing these concepts to life and ensuring the responsible resilience of the cold chain.Modjoule is looking for a hands-on Vice President of Engineering to directly lead all aspects of product engineering for our company.Initially there will be a large focus on new product introduction, but this role will also be responsible for sustaining engineering through the full lifecycle of the products.The VP Engineering will oversee the design and development of our entire roadmap, and manage internal and contract engineering resources, as appropriate. We are looking for someone that can systematically turn ideas into manufacturable, profitable products. Key responsibilities for the role:

• Responsible for the design of hardware and software for all our products
• Work closely with the VP Product and manufacturing expert to ensure the designs are executed according to the requirements while considering cost, quality control, and manufacturing complexity
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
• Manage the internal hardware engineering and software teams as well as the external teams at our contract partners
• Bring product requirements to life through thoughtful designs that speak the language of the company: reliable, cost-effective, intelligent
• Ensure the value proposition of the product is maintained throughout the development process while delivering development programs on-time and on-budget
• Own our technology roadmap and seek new technologies that can be implemented in our products
• Always think about what’s coming next and put together an actionable plan to ensure the company is always at the forefront of the industry
• Recruit, hire and onboard world-class engineering talent
• Lead, mentor and develop the engineering and product development team with hands-on guidance on solving engineering and manufacturing challenges
• Provide leadership to maximize efficacy and ensure proper communication between internal and contract teams
• Establish a culture of collaboration, innovation, rapid iteration, care for quality and a focus on the customer experience
• Manage the engineering budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively.
• Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and methodologies to enhance productivity and efficiency
• Ensure the highest standards of quality in engineering practices and in the final products
• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and stability
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including reporting on engineering progress, challenges, and achievements
• Foster an environment of safety within the company and its partners

Requirements

• A hunger and passion for creating new, innovative products that are differentiated and superior to existing products in the market
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Industrial preferred)
• 10+ years of experience in Engineering, R amp;D roles in energy storage or a related technology
• Deep knowledge in the product development process from prototyping to mass production
• Proven success developing industrial energy storage/power products
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including R amp;D, Engineering, quality, project management.
• Sales mindset that justifies and validates features in market opportunities and specific customer needs. We need a candidate that sees engineering and technology as a tool to deliver value to the customer in the shape of a product. A technical engineer with no understanding of the customer and value of the product would not be a good fit for us.
• Very familiar with the typical hardware development structure process (Concept, prototyping, EV, DV, PP, MP)
• Familiarity with Agile SW development methodology and ability to effectively manage software team/contractors
• Experience working with sourcing and supply chain teams to control cost
• Experience in strategic planning, project estimation, and project delivery and execution
• Experience managing multiple large-scale projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
• Passionate individual who finds joy in using engineering and technology to help the planet
• Flexible working hours. Interaction with colleagues from GMT to GMT-8
• Ability to travel to our London UK office and customer sites.
