Job Description

All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply, including individuals with disabilities and Protected Veterans.The Quality Control Technician is responsible for testing production batches according to specific written testing methods and identifying issues of both in-spec and out-of-spec data. The technician will interpret results and historical data to ensure the product meets or exceeds the customers’ requirements for quality, as well as provide instructions to production personnel regarding adjustments to batches as needed. The technician will be involved in the efficient operation of the lab, general housekeeping, ensuring a safe work environment and will independently perform tasks as outlined by her / her Supervisor / Manager.Major Tasks Include:Batch approval. Assures that all tests are completed, and results meet all specifications before going to the next production process.Enter all batches’ data into the electronic batch records system.Generate appropriate paperwork as needed per the customer specifications.Gather and send customer samples as required.Follows all standard technical procedures and exercises good judgment and initiatives. Able to accomplish assigned work with little supervision.If necessary, follows appropriate raw material test methods and may file related paperwork.Gather, stock and manage product retain area.Utilizes appropriate computer systems to ensure effective testing of products.Determines disposition of non-compliant finished goods, such as first case / last case.Places non-conforming material on hold as needed.Supports the ISO Management Systems and Safety Systems.Maintains inventory of lab supplies, stocks them when received, and requests them when low.May be required to work a different shift to cover for vacations, overtime, call-ins, etc.Maintains Lab housekeeping and cleans all test equipment.Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their Manager or other site Managers during their Manager’s absencesMust adhere to all safety requirements of job.Identify and communicate product issues to other departments as needed.Review batch slip for completeness and accuracy.Additional Duties Include:Create, maintain and update standard operating procedures for QualityDepartment to meet ISO requirements (where applicable).May assist in training of other lab techs as needed.Basic Qualifications:Must be able to Read, Write, Comprehend and Communicate in EnglishMust be at least 18 Years of AgeMust have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa statusMust have Own Reliable TransportationMust be able to work Overtime including on Saturdays and Sundays, with or without reasonable accommodationMust have the ability to see Color with or without reasonable accommodationThe successful candidate must also pass a pre-employment background check a medical screening will be scheduled post-offerPreferred QualificationsAn Associates or Diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology from an accredited CollegePrevious quality laboratory experience (both work experience and college laboratory course work are acceptable)Previous experience in a manufacturing environmentPrevious experience with Microsoft Access and / or Microsoft ExcelCompetencies:Must have the ability to use or learn computer software including but limited to email, spreadsheets and other company specific software.Sherwin-Williams is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
