As a Heavy Duty Mechanic with Teck you are responsible for maintaining our diverse fleet of equipment including CAT 797 #39;s, D11 #39;s, 24M #39;s, Komatsu 980E #39;s, and potentially North America #39;s only P amp;H 4800 shovel.We offer the chance to live and work in the majestic Rocky Mountains, where year-round recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and biking are unlimited. • Fording Operations located 29 km Northeast of Elkford, BC V0B 1H0
• Elkview Operations located at 3 km East of Sparwood, BC V0B 2G1
• Greenhills Operations located 8 km Northeast of Elkford, BC V0B 1H0
• Line Creek Operations located at 15 km North HWY 43, Sparwood, BC V0B 2G0

The hourly wages are:

• Elkview - $ 50.60 ($ 51.61 from Nov 2023)
• Fording River - $ 50.68 ( $ 51.69 from May 2024)
• Line Creek - $ 46.43
• Greenhills (non-union) - $ 50.68 ( $ 51.69 from May 2024)

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lubrication systems
• Providing innovative solutions and best practices
• Diagnose, maintain and repair mobile off road mining equipment including haul trucks, graders, bulldozers, excavators, shovels, loaders, and other heavy equipment
• Working with brands including CAT, Komatsu, P amp;H, Hitachi, John Deere, Letourneau, Volvo, Marion upon others

Qualifications:

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson #39;s Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Duty Technician Certification or eligibility to challenge the Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate
• Valid driver #39;s license
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Previous mining experience is an asset
