Job Description

Main purpose of the role:Manage and direct all aspects of Marine Operations, Terminal activities, Equipment control/logistics within Halifax and Atlantic parts of Canada. The objective is to achieve maximum service levels while maintaining operational expense levels in accordance with the company objectives.Major areas of responsibility:

  • Monitor vessel schedules, coordinate all aspects of husbandry for Zim vessels
  • Place labour orders with stevedores to ensure timely departures
  • Board vessels as needed
  • Quote and Approve OOG shipments
  • Responsible to provide acceptance of all Hazardous cargo and apply for permits as required.
  • Assist with problem solving at terminal
Function: Countriesamp; Business Development Experience:Required 3- 5 years #39; experience in stevedoring/marine industry; experience with management and customer relations.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of vessel stevedoring operations; including vessel operations
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and/or within a team environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
