  • Current Nursing (RN/RPN) student or PSW student/recent graduate
  • Personal support care experience
  • Willingnessamp; and ability to work weekends and day/evening shifts
  • Demonstrated interest/experience in working with seniors
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated flexibility in availability and assigned duties
  • Must have oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication, team building, negotiating and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in French and/or a language in addition to English is an asset
  • Observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules.
  • Ability to use technology; computer and tablets to document care and support
  • Ability to provide personal support to our clients in housekeeping, meal preparation and social visitation walking up to 25 minutes from the hub location to the client #39;s residence
Hiring Criteria - the following criteria is established by Canada Summer Job: This temporary full-time position is funded by Service Canada for youth between the ages of 15 to 30 years of age.
  • Applicants may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as they were 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • As per the Summer Canada Jobs Program criteria:
    • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
    • Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
