EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Store Manager – Hammonds Plains Entertainment RATE $ 21.00 – $ 27.00 per hour/40 hours per week/shift work requiredPOSITIONS One (1) position availableDURATION Full-timeLOCATION Hammonds Plains Entertainment, Hammonds Plains NSESTIMATED START DATE July 2022GENERAL DESCRIPTION Acadia First Nation (AFN), owns and operates the Hammonds Plains Entertainment facility located in HammondsPlains, NS. The facility, in operation since December 2019, provides VLT’s for entertainment, drive thru for tobacco and ancillary services, a store front location for products and services. AFN is currently recruiting for a StoreManager to effectively manage the Hammonds Plains Entertainment operations, planning, organizing, directing and controlling overall business activities and management of employees of the convenience store and VLT’s.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of Employees- Recruitment, orientation, training, performance management and daily supervision of employees in accordance with the AFN Human Resources Manual for Business Operations working closely with the Human Resources Manager as needed to support and address employee matters. Establish and maintain employee schedules, timesheets for payroll, delegation of shift duties and responsibilities. Organize and implement staff meetings and responds and resolve employee complaints.
  • Maximizing Profitability- Determine the retail product and service mix to meet customer demand for the convenience store, and VLT’s. Plan and organize sales and promotions, formulate pricing policies to achieve adequate mark-up while remaining competitive in the market, attentive to inventory detail including posting invoices, providing inventory reports and inspecting products for expiration dates and freshness, ordering, acquisition, and payment of all products within all business activities and operations mix
  • Management of Tobacco sales - Ensure the tobacco order is prepared per month in accordance with Service Nova
Scotia. Twice per week, count and post all tobacco per order resolving any mistakes with the dealer and maintaining up to date competitive pricing. Perform bi-weekly inventory counts for quota tobacco ensuring adequate supply of quota tobacco is available for AFN members
  • Financial Management and Reporting- Prepare and submit to the Band Manager and CFO annual and monthly budgets of projected sales and expenses and at month-end review actual sales and expenses. Recommend strategies for corrective action as required. Manages and balances cash against reported sales on a daily basis, cash overages and shortages, deposits, electronic remittances and reconciliation of all business activities of the
Hammonds Plains Entertainment.
  • Health and Safety- Develop, implement and maintain adherence to all safety policies in accordance with
Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and other applicable laws and legislation. Establish an inspection rotational cycle amongst employees of health and safety protocols, such as cleanliness and maintenance checks to ensure active participation of all employees in adhering to AFN policies and procedures for a health and safety work environment for patrons.
  • Community and Public Relations- Maintain and support a positive community image being a role model within the community and actively participating in Hammonds Plains Entertainment associated business operations public and community relations activities
  • Security- Security and safety of all assets and merchandise of Hammonds Plains Entertainment business operations. Formulate and implement appropriate security policies and measures to ensure that security be maintained. Ensure that all employees understand and comply with all security policies and procedures
  • Adheres to All AFN policies & procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Business Administration Management Certificate and/or
  • Demonstrated 5 years previous work experience in a leadership or management role
  • Management experience in a team orientated work environment preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Interpersonal relationship building and customer service skills
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft office suite programs
  • Detail oriented and results focused
  • Stress and time management skills
  • OH&S, First Aid & CPR and WHMIS current or willing to renew
  • Criminal Record Check upon hire
