Our ideal candidates are goal-oriented and have previous cooking experience within a fast-paced organization. What will you do this yearIn your role as a Catering Cook I, your primary accountabilities will be to:

• Cook and prepare food according to production guidelines and recipes for a variety of catered functions, as well as PNE concession stands
• Understand and demonstrate proper SOPs in cooking and kitchen equipment such as gas ranges, ovens, deep fat fryers, steam cookers, meat slicers, dishwashers and other related equipment
• Ensure food is stored in accurate temperatures for the appropriate length of time, following all food safety standards
• Ensure the highest quality of food is served in a timely and effective manner
• Cut, prepare, and serve items in correct and accurate portions
• Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation
• Control food waste, loss, and usage per standard operating procedures
• Maintain all walk-in coolers including labeling, dating, and rotating products
• Ensure PNE Uniform and Appearance Policy is adhered to at all times
• Perform other related duties as required

What else

• Must have a minimum of 2 year of experience in the Foodamp; Beverage industry, and successful completion of Grade 12
• Post secondary education or completion in culinary courses is considered an asset
• Must have a FoodSafe Level 1 certification
• Strong knife skills are required for efficient food preparation and maintaining kitchen safety standards.
• Excellent communicationamp; interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with staff, guests and clients
• A strong understanding and knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in large scale cooking as well as short order cooking
• Ability to follow recipes and safely operate all kitchen equipment
• Ability to prepare and present food in a clean and appetizing manner
• Must be available to work a variety of shifts and hours on a part-time basis, including early mornings, weekends and evenings
• Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
