• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

• Red Seal journeyperson Carpenters licence.
• Valid class 5 drivers licence with the ability to travel within District 2 as required.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, additional security checks may be required.
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position for extended periods of time (e.g. working alone, operating equipment, exposure to varied weather conditions, crawling, climbing ladders & scaffolds, vibrations, noise, dust, lifting up to 25kg, and wearing personal protective equipment).

Qualifications:Essential:

• Experience working in carpentry construction and maintenance within a commercial, industrial and/or institutional facility.
• Knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act, safety policies, and safe work procedures.
• Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and to show initiative in problem-solving/solutions
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.

Desired:

• Knowledge of the Manitoba Fire and Building code
• Knowledge of fire-separation.

Duties:The Carpenter will be responsible for performing duties at a journeyman level in the carpentry trade at Headingley Correctional Centre.
