Who We Are- Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa is a historic Cape Breton Resort and is located in the heart of Cape Breton Highlands National Park overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Just 2 hours from Sydney, NS, and a 5 hour drive from Halifax, the resort has been welcoming guests to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia since July 1940.We are hiring for the following management positions:Banquet ManagerNumber of Vacancies- 1Essential Functions-Oversee and execute all functions throughout the resort.Manage all set-up and tear-down of function spaces as required.Ensure guest dietary restrictions and allergies are communicated appropriately with the kitchen and guest.Attend weekly BEO meetings with all department heads involved with the execution and planning of events.Bar setup and stocking with the requirements of the different functions.Maintaining positive relationships and communication with on-site contact.Attention to all details during set-up and service to offer an unrivaled experience to the guests.Quality checking and follow-up with group contacts and guests.Clear communication is written, verbal, and email.Daily inspections of event space to ensure set-ups are as they should be based on customer requests.Check Email daily and respond in an efficient and timely matter.Memo’s at least weekly depending on what’s happening.Linen inventory monthly.Monthly inventory of Banquet supplies (Cutlery, Glassware, China, etc.).Inventory and ordering of liquor, beer, and wine.In conjunction with the Food & Beverage Manager, scheduling staff for daily events that meet guest service standards.Assisting F&B Managers with payroll and shared gratuity as well as Manager tip-outs.Coaching and disciplining staff when needed including training on a regular basis.Hands-on with set up and service of functions and events.Ringing in and billing of food, liquor, and wine with BEO and consumption.Balancing monies of cash bar with inventory and sales.Complete cashouts for different categories of sales if required.Preparing gratuity sheets daily after function so as to divide monies fairly to each server.During times of low banquet activity, provide operational support to the Food & Beverage Outlets.Act as a Floor Manager in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.Any other duties as required or communicated by the F&B Manager.Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers in an English work environment.Required Qualifications-At least 3 years of experience in the food and hospitality service sector, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.Professional English proficiency to communicate in English work environmentAccuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift supply items.Wage- $22-$25 per hour, based on experience + tips. See bonus details below.-------------------Restaurant ManagerNumber of Vacancies- 1Essential Functions-Be enthusiastic, and energetic and demonstrate a genuine positive demeanor throughout the shift whilst motivating and leading the teamEnsure every guest receives the best possible experience and leaves eager to returnManage and oversee all operations through action with a presence on the floor through the service periodsSet service standards and training with a focus on Guest experience standards from the top downAchieve excellence by maximizing profitability, while meeting or exceeding planned objectives for revenue, food and beverage costs and labor costsEnsure inventory management is conducted through bi-weekly inventory and cost reportingPeople progression and development training, creates a fiscally responsible team, through training, coaching, education, and developmentEnsure accurate recipe adherence by portion control of all food and beverage items, as well as ensuring that all menu items are produced in a timely and efficient manner and meet the concept’s standards for taste, quality, and appearanceActive participation in menu planning, execution, and marketingOversee all ordering, and vendor pricing and negotiate the best price availableWorks with resort management to ensure a working environment that is both inclusive and collaborative with team members at levels promoting a culture of development from withinCommunicate effectively with coworkers and customers in an English work environment.Required Qualifications-At least 3 years of experience in the food and hospitality service sector, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.Professional working proficiency in English language both verbal and written (the language of work).Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift supply items.Wage- $22-$25 per hour, based on experience + tips. See bonus details below.-------------------Additional Details for both PositionsJob Type- This a full-time seasonal position, from May to October 2023 and May to October 2024. We will consider candidates available for one season or both. Those who work both seasons will be eligible for a monetary bonus (see details below).Hours of work- 30 to 40 hours per week. Shifts include: weekends, holidays, mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Overtime may be required.Bonus - An additional bonus of $2 per hour for each hour worked will be provided to all employees after October 31st, 2023 who a) work a minimum of 500 hours for the season between May and October and b) work until at least the first Saturday of September 2023.
