Job BriefProvides a variety of administrative duties to support the day-to-day business functions of the assigned department.Union:CUPE 855 InsideEmployment Status:Temporary Full-TimeDuration (if temporary):< 3 monthsOpen To:Internal/External Applicant(s)Closing Date:06/06/21Job Title Administrative AssistantWage $23.07 - $28.06 hourly (2021)Reports To VariousDepartment VariousLocation As AssignedDuration Successful individuals will belong to a pool of temporary administrative staff and may be called upon from time to time to fill temporary vacancies for durations of up to three months at a timeHours Normal Working Hours 35 hours per week for a full-time assignment; up to 24 hours per week for a part-time assignment; Monday to Friday, must be willing to work varied hoursOther General office environment; Work locations are generally Lindsay area but may be throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes; travel may be required in accordance with job requirementsJob SummaryResponsible for a variety of administrative related duties including but not limited to: answering enquiries, reviewing correspondence and forwarding to appropriate person, composing letters, reports and other correspondence for signature, maintaining paper and electronic filing systems, providing secretarial support to various committees, preparing agendas and minutes, inputting payroll information and scheduling appointments and meetings.Ideally, this position requires a post secondary diploma in Office Administration, or a related field, and three years experience in an administrative support position.Additional SkillsMust be flexible and able to adjust quickly to various work environments;Must be a strong team player and be willing to learn a variety of processes and procedures on an ongoing basis;Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines effectively, with minimal supervision; ability to deal with multiple demands in time pressure situations and a fast paced work environment;Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public and all levels of staff;Excellent written communication skills; attention-to-detail and accuracy are a must;Demonstrated customer service skills at a level to develop and to maintain cooperative working relationships both within and outside the organization;Ability to exercise discretion and tact and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times;Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, financial and related software applications.Applicants must be prepared for skill testing.
