  • Drive a City vehicle (large Sprint/Cube type van) to collect and transport mail, parcels, reports, library materials and other items, depending on division, from a variety of pick-up and delivery points throughout the City
  • Follow established pick-up and delivery schedules and routes to maintain service and customer expectations
  • Respond to incoming inquiries concerning service and delivery and perform special or unusual handling and delivery procedures
  • Load and unload the vehicle being used, and sort the items for each route
  • Ensure the vehicle is cleaned and maintained (i.e. oil change, etc.) regularly and presents an appropriate image
  • Operate the vehicle under a wide variety of traffic, road and weather conditions
  • Perform a daily inspection of the vehicle and be responsible for the fueling of vehicle, and report and mechanical problems encountered with the vehicle
  • Responsible for logbook update and accurate record keeping
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail for all department and pick up/deliver to Post Office on a daily basis
  • Prepare registered and certified mail, and maintain associated records such as postage charges
  • Responsible for the upkeep and organization of the City Hall mail room, ie. ordering of mail supplies, postage, maintenance of postage and folding machines
Skills/Education Required
  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Knowledge of the City of Kawartha Lakes area
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a vehicle in all weather conditions and in a safe an efficient manner
  • Ability to use automated postal processing (City Hall), and other types of office equipment
  • Effective customer service and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public, council and all levels of staff
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently or as an effective member of a team
  • Must have legible and accurate writing ability
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software
  • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search will be required
