Job Description

Our client, a dynamic public practice accounting firm in Kelowna, BC, is on the lookout for a skilled bookkeeper or junior accounting technician with three to five years of experience to join their expanding team. As the firm has grown significantly in recent years, they now support a diverse range of clients across industries including professional services, manufacturing, construction, restaurants, retail, automotive, and agriculture.For this position, responsibilities will vary but will include:

  • Completion of full-cycle bookkeeping including preparation of GST, PST, WCB returns;
  • Interaction with clients to gather necessary documents for bookkeeping and various types of tax returns;
  • Assisting other staff members on various tasks including office admin tasks as on needed basis; and
  • Working closely with the senior accountants assist clients with their bookkeeping needs.
In this close-knit office setting, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong, ongoing relationships with clients, often serving as their primary point of contact.We are seeking a proactive individual with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment. Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to operational excellence are essential. This is a full-time position, but we are open to candidates who may need flexible hours initially, with the potential to transition to a full-time schedule.Requirements
  • 3 or more years senior bookkeeping and/or accounting experience, preferably in a public practice environment is required;
  • Proficiency in accounting software and tools such as Sage, QuickBooks, CaseWare and Profile;
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite; exceptional Excel skills;
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities;
  • The ability to handle data with confidentiality and integrity;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking;
  • The ability to thrive in a team-based environment, although you are self-motivated and able to function autonomously;
  • “Can-do”, positive disposition; someone who takes pride in a job well done is perfect for this role!
In addition to a robust benefits package, the salary for this position is anticipated to be $28-$32/hour and will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
