Job Description

Our client, Interior Equities Corp. (IEC), is a trusted mortgage investment corporation located in Kelowna, BC. They offer alternative funding options to clients who may not qualify for a traditional mortgage. Known for providing quality, flexible and speedy service to the mortgage broker community, they have been supporting the Okanagan since 1982.They are currently looking for a part-time Bookkeeper/Accountant to join their dedicated team. As the successful candidate, you will manage the company #39;s financial records by meticulously recording daily transactions, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling accounts. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that financial data is well-organized and current, enabling accurate reporting and compliance with regulations. This position is perfect for a self-starter who enjoys working with multiple sets of books, thrives in a collaborative and close-knit office environment, and is eager to make meaningful contributions both independently and as part of a cohesive team.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the comprehensive management of financial flows across the organization, ensuring precise recording of daily transactions and effective maintenance of multiple accounts;
  • Execute journal entries and perform thorough account reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy;
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries reflect the company’s true financial standing;
  • Prepare and submit required remittance forms and statutory filings promptly and accurately;
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, calculating and preparing payments for suppliers with efficiency;
  • Facilitate timely payroll processing;
  • Conduct month-end and year-end adjustments and reconciliations, preparing finalized working papers for external auditors;
  • Generate month-end financial statements that provide clear insights into company performance;
  • Maintain professional and positive communication with stakeholders to enhance relationships and support business objectives;
  • Contribute to special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to organizational success.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience;
  • Related business or accounting certification/education is an asset;
  • Previous experience with accounting software, Sage 50;
  • Strong computer literacy, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices;
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • The ability to handle data with confidentiality and integrity;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively.
IEC offers a flexible environment and understands the importance of work-life balance in today’s business landscape.This position is part-time (approximately 3 days a week) and the finalized schedule will have some flexibility based on the needs of the successful candidate.The salary for this position is anticipated to be $28.00-$34.00/hour and will be determined based on experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
