Your responsibilities encompass tasks such as ensuring accurate inventory records, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the integrity of our financial systems. You will also closely monitor manufacturing variances, participate in estimating the costs for new projects, and analyze operational expenses. Your proficiency in managing diverse financial tasks is fundamental to our financial success. Please refer to the following for a comprehensive list of roles and responsibilities, including those listed below and potentially encompassing additional ad-hoc tasks.Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Inventory Cost Accuracy Assuranceamp; cost accounting:

  • Verify the precision of inventory costing across various aspects, including materials, labor, machinery, and overhead costs.
  • Conduct an in-depth analysis of manufacturing costs to establish suitable overhead rates.
  • Regularly reconcile accounts to guarantee the accuracy of inventory and cost of goods.
  • Maintain and update inputs within the cost accounting system to guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
Monthly Manufacturing Variance Tracking:
  • Regularly update and maintain reports on manufacturing variances, covering aspects such as material cost, labor costs, and yield.
New Product Cost Development:
  • Collaborate with the operations and commercial teams to ensure the precise estimation of costs for new products.
  • Analyze actual costs in comparison to estimates and effectively communicate variances to the operations and commercial teams.
Month-Ending Inventory Analysis:
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to month-ending on-hand inventory, ensuring accurate reporting and effective analysis.
  • Represent finance in physical inventory counts.
External Auditor Support:
  • Provide valuable assistance in compiling information for external auditors on a quarterly basis, ensuring regulatory compliance and transparency.
Other Accounting Responsibilities:
  • Offer support and assistance with various additional monthly accounting duties as the need arises, showcasing versatility and adaptability in your role.
Experience and Qualifications
  • 2-5 years experience in a cost accounting role, ideally in a manufacturing setting; public company experience an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Finance/Accounting/Commerce or equivalent.
  • Advanced Excel skills, required to consolidate date from multiple sources.
  • Strong ERP base concepts (D365/Business Central, SAP, JDE etc.)
  • Power BI reporting experience a benefit.
  • High degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated capability as a team player with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements.
  • Criminal record check required.
