Job Description

Commissionaires BC are looking for security guards to join us to work with the City of KelownaAs an employee with Commissionaires BC, you’ll be working with an organization focused on growth and innovation. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with the City of Kelowna, including RCMP to gain value experience for your future careerWorking hours:

  • Tuesday to Saturday - available between 2pm and midnight (guaranteed 40 hours per week)
  • Thursday to Monday - available between the hours of 7am till 6pm (guaranteed 40 hours per week)
Payrate:$23 per hourSkills/Qualifications required:
  • Valid BC Security License
  • OFA 1 certificate or higher
  • AST certification or willing to get
  • BC Class 5 DL with a clean driver #39;s abstract
  • Living in Canada for the last 5 or more years to be eligible for security clearances
  • 1-2 years working in security
  • You have excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Your nice to haves:
  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • De-escalation skills
  • Experience using Tracktik software
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Covering shifts at various sites as needed in the Kelowna/West Kelowna area
  • Foot and vehicle patrols around downtown Kelowna
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, business owners and those visiting Kelowna
  • Handling any crisis situations in a calm and controlled manner
  • Proactively responding to and resolving emergency situations and conflicts
  • Effectively communicating problems or concerns to the Site Supervisor
