JOB TITLE: Senior Residence WorkerJOB SUMMARY: Senior Residence Worker shall have the personality, ability, and temperament necessary to interact with supported persons in a manner that will respect and maintain the persons’ spirit, dignity and individuality. It is the responsibility of the Senior Residence Worker to ensure the supported person’s physical, emotional, social, educational and medical needs are met while acknowledging the persons’ rights to self-determination and privacy. They will assist the supported person to enhance their quality of life with activities of daily living and the development of life skills. The Senior Residence worker will assist the program manager in providing orientation, training, work direction and guidance to the program workers.REPORTS TO: Program Manager and Regional ManagerKEY DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILTIES:

1. SERVICE TO SUPPORTED PERSONS

1. Assists the program manager in providing orientation, training, work direction and guidance to program workers by performing duties such as clarifying program policies, reviewing work, and scheduling program workers. Provides input to program workers’ performance evaluations.
2. May oversee the operation of the program in the absence of the program manager or as directed.
3. Participates in the assessment, goal setting and program planning for supported persons living at the program. Documents, implements and provides input into the evaluation of the program.
4. Recognizes, analyzes and deals with potential emergency situations such as supported person’s medical emergency or aggressive behavior to ensure no harm comes to the supported person and/or the public.Reports problems to the program manager.
5. Assists with care management by identifying potential problems and reporting any difficulties or lapse in community standards of care, health and safety concerns; whether the occurrences were voluntary or involuntary. Provides input to program manager, or professionals with regard to the development of appropriate care plans to achieve supported person’s objectives. Contributes to the evaluation of supported person’s progress and prepares reports.
6. Maintains and records relevant information in the supported person, staff and any other communication books/logs and provide reports to program manager as required.
7. Assist supported person with activities of daily living such as feeding, lifts, transfers, hygiene, grooming and toileting.
8. Administer medication to supported persons in accordance with established policy and update records of other pertinent information as required.
9. Provides life skills training to the supported person such as meal preparation, personal care skills and personal finance while supporting them in their personal growth as outlined in the Personal Service Plan. Participates in various focused activities in accordance with their PSP and the supported person’s goals.
10. Identifies social, recreational and educational services in the community that will meet the supported person’s needs. Maintain liaison with other agencies and professionals in the community to coordinate supported person’s involvement in the community and promote personal relationships.
11. Transports and assists supported person to appointments, shopping or leisure activities.
12. Maintain respectful liaison with supported person’s family, friends and community agencies as required.Provides emotional support and feedback to supported individuals and their families.
13. To be responsible for and record up-to-date financial records for the supported person and account for petty cash.
14. Performs other related duties as required.

2. STAFF AND ORGANIZATION

1. Outlines services provided by the program and/or organization.Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
2. Performs residence maintenance and housekeeping duties such as laundry, sweeping, mopping floors, mowing lawns, inventory, shopping, cleaning equipment and food services.
3. Contribute to the overall Health and Safety of the program, including record keeping of any home repair of maintenance needs as they occur. Participate in OH amp;S drills and inspections, as required.
4. Participate in staff meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings, in-service/training and care conferences, as requested.

WHAT YOU #39;LL HAVE

1. Diploma in related human/social services field
2. Two (2) years recent related experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
3. Must be willing to get a Criminal Records Search
4. Current first-aid and CPR certification
5. Unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s license. If driving a commercial company vehicle, a Class 4 license is required
6. Any qualifications or skills required of the Licensing Officer or the funding body
7. Eligibility to work in Canada
8. TB Test
