FAMILY HOME CHILD CARE CONSULTANTJOB DESCRIPTIONDESIGNATION: Permanent, Full-Time, 35 hours/weekPAY PERIOD: Bi-weeklySALARY: To Be NegotiatedGENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:To work with the Centre Director to organize and implement the Family Home Child Care Program.REVIEW: AnnuallyOBJECTIVES OF POSITION:1. To identify needs related to childcare and childcare providers in the Kings County area.2. To develop and implement education, information, and support programs to respond to needs identified.3. To enhance and improve the quality and accessibility of a range of childcare options for families.REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY:The Family Home Consultant is employed by the KCFRC Board of Directors and reports to the KCFRC ExecutiveDirector. The Family Home Consultant is responsible for keeping the Director informed of program activities, achievements, developments and needs.NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:1. A Level 2 or 3 Classification under the Day Care Act and Regulations. [41(2) of Day Care Regulations]2. At least two years experience working in an early learning and childcare program.3. First Aid Certification.4. Ability to conduct a community-based needs assessment, as well as knowledge of adult education and group facilitation principles.5. Strong facilitation skills.6. The ability to work independently.7. Excellent communication, organization, and administrations skills, with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Promote and maintain the integrity and philosophy of the Centre within the community.2. Follow and guidelines for the Centre as identified in the KCFRC Policy and Procedure Manual.3. Follow the Family Home Day Care Program guidelines and regulations.4. Develop and conduct an on-going needs assessment of families and childcare providers in the Kings County area.5. Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate programs, workshops and discussion groups which respond to Child Care Provider and Parent needs.6. Recruit and approve care providers and family day care homes to establish and operate a family home day care.7. Develop materials to inform parents of available childcare services in the area and to assist them in identifying quality childcare options appropriate to the needs of their family.8. Develop and circulate promotional material as needed to ensure that parents and other childcare providers are aware of programs and services available.9. Actively promote the value of quality childcare in the community.10. Maintain confidentiality of family/participant, staff, KCFRC, and Board information.11. Maintain and submit monthly activity reports to the Board of Directors.12. Maintain and submit accurate financial records of program expenditures and purchases to the Centre Director andTreasurer on a monthly basis.13. Communicate with the Centre Director to identify changes and improvements for the Family Home Child CareProgram.14. Attend relevant meetings, as necessary.15.
