The physicians in this practice provide office-based primary care, participate in the in-patient rota at Valley Regional Hospital (VRH), and offer evening appointments. Some minor procedures are performed on-site, while more significant procedures can be performed at nearby VRH. Physicians also have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well.Overhead costs are shared and front office staff and office manager are employees of the physicians. The electronic medical record (EMR) is Med Access. Be the type of physician you want to be in Nova Scotia. With an increasing focus on team-based care, the opportunity exists to shape your practice to whatever size and scale you desire including:inpatient careobstetrical serviceshospitalist workemergency coveragesurgical assists, etc.Responsibilitiesensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illnessbe accountable for appropriate workload and practicecontinuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or communityprovide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level heath carebuild to capacity within the first two years (new primary care providers)operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authoritywork toward same day or next day access for the practice populationwork in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needswork with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when requiredparticipate in quality improvement and evaluation activitiesutilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team membersExpected Hoursfull-timeflexible work hours - evening appointments offeredQualificationsall applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Community DetailsLocated in beautiful Annapolis Valley, Kentville is near several award-winning wineries, the Minas Basin - which boasts some of the highest tides in the world - and Acadia University.
