Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director Health Services and Valley Regional Hospital Site Lead, the Health Services Manager (HSM) of Women & Children’s Health & Ambulatory Care will develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate all activities provided within the Programs ensuring that these are delivered from within the identified resources. Service areas include emergency care, acute care, chronic care, clinics, outpatient and long-term care and community settings. The Manager will collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders of NSH and IWK to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services. The Manager will ensure that they maintain a close connection with the Lead Site Managers for the local facilities to ensure support is provided for local operational issues.The Manager will consistently demonstrate commitment to NSH strategic directions and continuous quality improvement. Where possible, the Manager will work with their colleagues to develop Program and service standards and pan provincial policies and procedures, while recognizing the differences required of local populations and cultures.The Manager facilitates effective changes to ensure that patient care and related services align with strategic directions and initiatives as established by NSH and the Department of Health & Wellness. Their understanding of the clinical practice areas will provide support to continuous improvement.All actions and decisions demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement and aligns with the values of Nova Scotia Health.Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline
  • Master’s degree relevant to the position (Nursing, Health Administration, Business) considered an asset
  • Minimum five (5) years recent clinical experience in a position in this portfolio preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment
  • Experience developing and facilitating strategies consistent with the principles of Organizational Health
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to successfully change, adapt, overcome, and cope with unexpected challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners across the healthcare continuum
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee and self-development and continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrated experience in financial principles and applications (business planning, budget preparation)
  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as managing multiple priorities, time-sensitive deadlines, stressful situations, working flexible/extended hours and travelling within and outside NSH as necessary
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
Hours of Work
  • Permanent Full Time 75 hours bi-weekly
  • May require occasional after hours or weekend support for program
