Job Description

Job descriptionSince 1945 – Family owned and operated - Eassons Transportation Group is headquartered in Kentville NS, with terminals in Coldbrook, NS, Sydney, NS, Albany, PEI, Moncton, NB, Mount Pearl, NL, Belleville, ON and Mississauga, ON. Eassons operates approximately 325 trucks and employs over 500 people. Eassons Transportation Group provides dry and temperature-controlled TL/LTL services across Canada and the United States.Opportunity exists for a Long-Haul Planner based out of our Kentville, NS HQ.Core duties:

  • Continuously monitor/track shipments from pick up to delivery.
  • Plan the best truck on the best load for ontime pickup and delivery.
  • Work with our fleet managers to move our freight in the most efficient way possible. Both for the customer and the driver.
  • Work with our local P&D and terminals on power/trailers.
  • Maintain our trailer banks in your zone. Working with seasonal jumps/dips.
  • Work to increase miles by power unit, while maintaining a high ontime %.
  • Maintain dispatch systems as related to your position
  • Achieve KPI Goals established by senior management
  • Continuous training
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a dispatch role.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Clear understanding of North American transportation industry, geography
  • Knowledge of basic customs processes relating to trans-border freight movements between the United States and Canada
  • Working knowledge of transportation management software (TMW) is considered and asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian/U.S. Customs, FDA and meat inspection procedures is considered an asset
