Job Description

Are you a well-rounded professional, pursuing a challenging career with the chance to grow and make a real difference There are many available positions in long term care for Licensed Practical Nurses who have a passion for working with seniors; or with home nursing, where you will provide care to people of all ages in their homes and other community settings.Evergreen Home for Special Care is a long term care facility with a eighteen bed Children Centre and ninety-seven bed Senior Centre in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. Licensed by the Department of Health and Wellness, Evergreen provides care for its residents regardless of age, sex, race, creed, and social status.As a RN, you will be responsible for the provision of all aspects of care in the long-term care facility or the home, as well as the training and leadership of Licensed Practical Nurses and CCAs. You must have a sincere passion and commitment to providing quality services for seniors. In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, the LPN performs a wide variety of resident care functions within the scope of practice, code of ethics, and governing legislation. The LPN provides a leadership and supervisory role to the Continuing Care Attendant/Personal Care Worker.Responsibilities (RN):

  • Practice safe, compassionate, competent, and ethical care throughout the continuum of health and wellness of the residents.
  • Administer direct nursing care and plan Resident care in consultation from the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Administering and recording prescribed medication.
Responsibilities (LPN):
  • Assisting clients with various personal care activities
  • Use of lifts and slings to transfer patients with a movement disorder
  • Administration of medication
  • Nighttime monitoring and assistance
  • Light housekeeping (Laundry, washing dishes, sweeping and wiping of surfaces)
  • Basic food prep of a blenderized feed for the clients
  • Outings in the community
  • Facilitation of community inclusion activities
Core Requirements:
  • Current Licensed (or eligible for license) with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
