Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director, the Manager, Patient Access and Flow is responsible for providing zone and operational leadership to multi-disciplinary teams within a patient-centred, collaborative practice model for patient care units, and to manage the efficient use of bed resources in the applicable health facilities throughout the Western Zone. A zonal responsibility to lead and engage stakeholders in the development, implementation and evaluation of improvement strategies to ensure efficient and effective utilization of staffing and fiscal resources.Working collaboratively and consultatively with patients/clients, families, management, staff, physicians, physicians’ offices, community partners, and service providers, the Zone manager applies critical thinking to address challenges to achieve the ultimate goal of high quality, safe and cost effective services to better support the patient experience/outcome, and to better support patient flow.Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in nursing
• Minimum 5 years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate level computer skills (MSOffice; Patient Audit System; Business Objects Patient Flow Reporting and SharePoint)
• Experience with bed management software an asset
• Strong understanding of bed management, utilization and patient flow methodologies as they relate throughout the continuum of care
• Excellent conflict resolution skills to investigate and resolve problems
• Demonstrated evidence of innovative leadership and critical thinking, with proven ability to foster a collaborative team approach to decision making
• Understanding of continuous quality improvement tools and methodologies as it relates to system thinking as it involves public/culture, staff as clients, staff as employees, physicians, other government sectors, contracted services, etc
• Strong process knowledge and process thinking abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively with and engage others within an inter-professional practice environment
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
