Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityThe Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Technician works under the direction of the Medical Device Reprocessing Manager in collaboration with all internal and external users of the MDR Service to effectively provide safe, clean, and sterile equipment, supplies, and instruments according to prescribed approved procedures and techniques. The Medical Device Reprocessing staff will be responsible to function in all areas of reprocessing.The MDR Technician ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 plus graduate of recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians’ course
  • Minimum 9 months recent related experience an asset
  • Medical Terminology an asset
  • Knowledge of sterile supply processing equipment, e.g. Steam Sterilizer, Cart wash, Amps Washer/Sterilizer, Ultrasonic, etc
  • Demonstrates understanding of the role of Medical Device Reprocessing in the delivery of patient care and understanding of how errors may affect medical treatment and cause financial loss
  • Demonstrates accountability

  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Proven planning, organization and time management skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
  • Manual and finger dexterity along with good visual and hearing perception in order to maintain safety and efficiency of operations
  • Knowledge of or previous experience in nursing, infection control or microbiology
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 12 months of employment (must submit proof of enrollment upon start).MDR Techs may also be provided with training for reprocessing in the Endoscopy department and expected to provide coverage when necessary.Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.Hours
  • Permanent, Part-time (80%) position; 60 hours bi-weekly
  • 7.5-hour shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • On-call for the reprocessing of Endoscopes
  • Travel may be required
