Job Description

Job descriptionNutritional Services WorkerEvergreen Home for Special Care is a long term care facility located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. Licenced by the Department of Health and Wellness, Evergreen provides care for its residents regardless of age, sex, race, creed, and social status.The facility is comprised of a Childrens Centre which is licensed to provide 24 hour nursingcoverage for 19 children and a Seniors Centre consisting of 97 residents. All residents receive multi-disciplinary care based on an holistic approach to ensure physical, mental and spiritual well being while recognizing the right to individuality, respect and dignity.The Seniors Centre provides care to adults and seniors whose physical, mental and intellectual needs are addressed through qualified nursing care, dietary services and recreational programming within a clean and safe environment. The involvement of families, staff and volunteers contributes to the mission of meeting the needs of all residents of Evergreen.Job Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
  • Current Food Handlers Course considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in Health Care Food Service environment considered an asset.
  • Have an understanding, promote, and practice resident-centred care.
  • Availability to work all Shifts (8 hour)
  • Available to work weekends, holidays, and call-ins.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of residents, staff, family, and volunteers.
  • Accountability and responsibility for own actions. Motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to residents, employees, and the business of the organization.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety and ethical practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Ability to read and understand standardized recipes.
  • Experience with Therapeutic diets considered an asset.
  • Physically capable to perform the duties of the position including but not limited to:
  • - ability to lift/push in excess of 35 lbs.
  • - ability to withstand the demands of walking, standing, lifting, and bending for majority of the workday
  • Demonstrated record to attend scheduled shift on consistent bases. Demonstrated regular attendance in current and past employment.
