The Consultant advises others how to work with municipalities and as well as other levels of government to action public policy development.The position works closely with the Manager, Healthy Communities, and other Consultants both within the Zone and NSH to strengthen the Healthy Communities workforce to animate the steps of public policy. The position provides advice and direction for the planning and implementation of public policy work and is a resource and support to front-line staff as they strengthen and build public health competencies and healthy communities-specific competencies related to public policy work. The Consultant has in-depth knowledge of the steps of public policy animation and understands how to create and plan opportunities for strengthening practice among staff. The position also engages in public policy work to build competency in self and others and uses participatory processes to teach, reflect and strengthen the knowledge base among the Healthy Communities team in the zone and in NSH.The Consultant collaborates with system and external partners, identifies and monitors key indicators, and supports knowledge exchange across the health system and other sectors. The position monitors trends, gathering new evidence and learning better practice in public policy work.Qualifications
