Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Director, Talent and Organizational Development and collaborating closely with the Zone Executive and People Services leadership teams, the Talent and Organizational Development Consultant (Western Zone) performs a generalist role providing leadership, consultation and expertise on various talent and organizational development areas of responsibility. Within their respective zone and identified portfolio, the Talent and Organizational Development Consultant (Western Zone) provides advice and support to Zone Executive and Senior People Services team members on those services that fall within the talent and organizational development area of expertise. The Zone Consultant partners with other talent and organizational development counterparts in the delivery of top quality consultation, program design and facilitation to enable healthcare leaders and team members.The Talent and Organizational Development Consultant (Western Zone) is expected to achieve the following outcomes in support of the goals and objectives of NS Health:

  • Shaping individual behaviours and the organizational culture to advance health, healing, learning and all within a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Formal and informal managers are coached, mentored and supported to achieve success and support their teams including, but not limited to, leadership development, orientation/onboarding, performance review and development planning, team engagement, recognition and change management
  • Solid leadership practices and principles with specific focus on the LEADS leadership framework are embedded in the organizational culture, and fostered through daily interactions, training, and facilitation.
  • The consultant responds to, and addresses, team and organizational challenges with supportive people strategies developed in partnership with team leaders
  • Provision of support, tools and resources as required to the managers, employees, volunteers and physicians in each zone to enable understanding and integration of the vision, mission, values, principles and practices that guide NS Health.
  • Collaboration with People Services to enhance understanding of the indicators that guide culture change and provide recommendations and support to managers regarding action planning, operational direction and strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of any recommendations.
About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Graduate of a post-secondary degree/program in related field (e.g. Human Resources, Education, Social or Behavioural Sciences, etc.), or equivalent combination of education, training and ten years progressive leadership experience
  • Certification or training in adult education and facilitation preferred.
  • Five (5) years’ experience providing adult training, facilitation and education within a complex unionized environment
  • Knowledge of all aspects of organizational development and effectiveness, preferably within the health sector including adult learning methodologies, leadership practices, and related models and concepts
  • Excellent knowledge of and proficiency with various virtual learning tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated up-to-date knowledge of organizational development principles and philosophies
  • Experience interpreting and embedding organizational strategies and policies
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and relationship building skills including consultative, coaching, mediation and conflict resolution
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Permanent, Full-time position
  • The location for this position is flexible within the Western Zone
  • This position has the flexibility of working from home
