Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager Maternal Child, the Ward Clerk is responsible for all clerical duties assigned in the provision of efficient and effective patient care. Duties include assembling patients’ charts, compiling statistical information, maintaining supplies, photocopying, faxing and transcribing prescribers orders. The Ward Clerk provides pleasant, cooperative, timely and accurate information to physicians, nursing staff and patients, exhibiting sound judgment and initiative, while working within the Mission, Vision and Strategic Directions and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of the organization.Qualifications

  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a recognized office administration program
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course
  • Expectation to obtain HASP (payroll) training, Meditech & Share training
  • Must have a high aptitude towards office organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in harmony as a member of the inter-professional team and the nursing program
  • Must be able to use initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Data entry and word processing experience/training in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Must be able to perform duties that involve lifting, bending and stretching
  • Experience with community wide scheduling an asset for some units (i.e Oncology, Renal Dialysis)
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
