Job Description

Framatome is seeking a Safety Compliance Technician III for our Kincardine, Ontario, Canada location supporting Bruce Power. This position will support our upcoming construction work for our mechanical team. This role is responsible for supporting the deployment, implementation and monitoring of the EHS & Human Performance program. They providing Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental oversight in a construction and industrial environment at nuclear client sites and Framatome Canada office/warehouse facility.Employee will be a member of the EHS and Human Performance Department reporting to the EHS and Human Performance Manager.Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support project specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and procedures including; inspections, audits, observation and coaching
  • Ensure accidents/incidents are investigated in a timely/valued manner by providing leadership with investigation and analysis.
  • Provide field oversight min. 80% of time and be intergrated into the construction teams attending Pre and Post Job Breifs, Safety Meetings, Toolbox talks and in field observations.
  • Provide oversight to sub-contractors
  • Track and report safety-related statistics.
  • Support Human Performance program activities and act as an advocate for Human Performance.
  • Assist in development of Job Safety Analysis, High Risk Evolution Planning, Critical Lift Plans, ALARA Plans and other plans as required and audit same in the field.
  • Assist in supporting the Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Ensure workplace hazards are identified and effective mitigation strategies are developed and implemented using hierarchy of controls methodology.
  • Technical resource for jurisdictional Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations and applicable standards.
  • Active participation in Framatome annual safety initiatives.
  • Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvements to the Framatome Health & Safety program.
  • Ensure workplace hazards are identified and effective mitigation strategies are developed and implemented.
  • Liaise with Government agencies and client representatives
  • Technical resource for jurisdictional Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations and applicable standards.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Associates degree in a Science/Occupational Health and Safety related field plus 5-6 years related experience or High School diploma plus 8-10 years of related nuclear experience
  • A preferred candidate should have a designation or show proof of progressing towards a designation such as: C.H.S.C, N.C.S.O, C.R.S.P
  • Willing to work days, evenings and weekends and be flexible to support construction schedule demands
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
  • A working knowledge of Provincial OHS Legislation including construction and industrial regulations.
  • Experience in Health and Safety within an industrial and construction environment.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring construction health and safety programs.
  • Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field.
  • A team player that accepts and can manage change
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid Bruce Power or Ontario Power Generation Security Clearance
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office 365 to develop reports or presentations as required.
  • Familiarity working in radiation zones 2 and 3
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience providing oversight to multiple trades in composite crews in major construction projects
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and positively influence behavior.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry and with Human Performance programs considered an benefit
