Job Description

Through our work in the nuclear, conventional generation, renewable and power delivery markets, we create resilient infrastructure to last generations.ABOUT USThe Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, AECOM and Framatome. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement project and includes the removal of the eight steam generators at Unit 6 and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications.This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. Unit 6 is the first of six reactors being replaced by Bruce Power through the MCR program.Work is scheduled to begin in 2019 with installation of the crane pad, then in 2020 perform insulation removal and metrology of the existing steam generators and ultimately replacement in 2021.PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONUnder the general direction of the Site Manager, the Task Manager will assist in the planning, documentation preparation, coordination and scheduling of activities within their assigned task(s) of work. The Task Manager represents the primary interface across all project functions for their assigned tasks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with safety, quality and human performance policies. This will include supporting development of ALARA methodologies.
  • Support project team by reviewing the current EAC and provide a “bottoms up/class 2” estimate for the designated task(s) assigned.
  • Ensure materials and tooling/consumables are procured and onsite prior to the start of the work activity (this includes any necessary spare parts and maintenance services for equipment).
  • Support writing the necessary requisitions for services and items not procured thru the Design Change process.
  • Coordinate with all required project (internal and external) resources to develop execution planning deliverables, including: construction supervision, technical staff, engineering, quality control, safety, human performance, sub-contractors, client stakeholders, etc.
  • Develop and maintain project task plans and playbooks
  • Manage the “Readiness Review” process for assigned task(s), including solicitation of acceptance from all appropriate internal and external stakeholders that readiness criteria have been achieved.
  • Provide updates on key metrics related to assigned task(s), including schedule, Quality, Safety, issues and risks
  • Directly support the implementation of mock-up and support pre-job briefs for the workforce.
  • During the execution of the work, monitor and maintain the schedule to ensure the SPI and CPI are at a 1.00 or greater. This shall include a performance of a 96-hour look-ahead during the outage window and notify the Site Manager and Project Controls of any activities that are in jeopardy.
  • Oversee and directly support work during execution phase, including monitoring for performance, provision of guidance to the field team, reporting to line management, leading problem-solving efforts and development of adverse condition recovery plans
  • Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications/codes and CITP’s.
  • Identify and support CITP and/or DCN revisions as necessary to support field work.
  • Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with QA Programs and project quality guidelines
  • Manage and maintain OPEX in the project database for future use.
  • Attend and participate in the Plan of the Day and other meetings as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate across all functions of the project as required to achieve task(s) goalsProvide leadership to Field Engineers, Coordinators and Craft LabourKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • 5-10 years’ experience in project execution
  • 2-5 years Project Management related
  • Experience with coordinating/managing Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) work
  • Ability to successfully coordinate a construction project
  • Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements
  • Good communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential
  • High proficiency in standard computer programs
  • Experience in preparation and delivery of project reports in writing and verbally, including presentation to various stakeholders
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITYOperation within a budget assigned by the Site Manager/Construction Manager, including regular review of cost performance with Project Controls and Project Management teamFiscal responsibility as required by the Joint Venture agreement.EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
