Job Description

  • Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using the handheld scanner as well as staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night as required
  • Distributes freight to local P amp;D Drivers
  • Marks materials with identifying information
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (on handheld device)
  • Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to the shipper #39;s bill of lading
  • Starts heaters, placards trailers as required
  • Arrange freight in a specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space
  • Operate tow motor to transport stored items from the dock warehouse to the trailer
  • Must take an active role in the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor, properly storing dunnage, etc.
  • Typical Hours will be 1100hrs - 2000hrs -- Split shift Monday mornings to unload LTL (4AM start typical)
  • Use manager #39;s pickup truck to make small rush deliveries as required
  • Computer knowledge - will be responsible for end-of-day labels and handling of drivers / scanning
  • Other duties may be assigned
