Job Description

Our Engineered Solutions (ES) team, located in our premises in Kingston, Ontario, designs and manufactures Live Fire Training Systems and Mining Refuge and Rescue Solutions for customers across Canada and the US, supporting system installs, training and service. Live Fire Training Systems use propane fueled fires to allow trainees the best possible preparation for real firefighting scenarios. Mine Refuge chambers provide shelter during an emergency in hazardous environments during underground mining operations.The Project Estimator performs a variety of tasks with the overall purpose to follow the execution of project and warranty/service orders from quoting to fulfillment, ensuring that any problems or delays are overcome promptly while tracking status and reporting regularly to the organization. The Project Estimator will co-ordinate and carry out tasks with production, procurement, engineering, and the operations manager to successfully perform the role.Teamwork, problem solving, and continuous improvement are the foundations of this role.Major Accountabilities:Project Technical Support: Maintain portfolio information for each of the CTO products including drawings, Bill of Materials, Sales documents, etc.; regularly update production tracking information and communicate status to operations, engineering, and sales; provide first line technical support to the production team during assembly and testing; work with the production team and engineering team to improve, trouble shoot and make design improvements; identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives relating to design, assemblyamp; test processes, and standardization; update product costs as needed, based on current price data; maintain accuracy of Bill of Materials for standard products and standard sub-assemblies. Project Quoting: Prepare project quotes for ES custom solutions via existing templates independently and in collaboration with Project Engineering and Sales; contribute to the preparation of comprehensive RFP response packages; keep standard RFP response content up to date; prepare quotes for other offerings such as training.Serviceamp; Warranty Co-Ordination: Prepare Service and parts quotes independently with input from technicians and the operations manager; request quotes from vendors in response to service and spare part enquiries and orders; track and co-ordinate status of all service orders; work with Operations Manager to schedule service calls Project Co-ordination: Assist Operations Manager with project/production coordination as needed; coordination of materials for assembly; support of unique project requirements such as permits, special equipment, coordinating equipment re-locations, etc.; update production related documentation. Vendor Supply Chain Co-ordination: Co-ordinate vendor delivery with project schedule and assembly teamwork flow; work with vendors to ensure cross-border documentation is up to date for required materials. Update other engineering information such as manuals, regulatory information, etc., as needed
