Job Description

Position Vacancy: Nutrition and Food ServicesPosition: Part-Time NFS Supervisor-Patient ServicesLocation: KW CampusWork Type: Part TimeHours of work: 8 hour shifts, 06:30-14:30, 11:30-19:30, working every 4th weekend 06:30-18:30Job Summary:Primary responsibilities of the NFS Supervisor-Patient Services include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the staff and operations of the NFS Patient Service areas at KW and Freeport campus including production, portioning, tray assembly and delivery, nourishment preparation, and ware washing
  • Ensures compliance with all hospital and department policies, collective agreements and relevant legislation such as HACCP, WHIMIS and OHS guidelines
  • Participates in various human resource duties such as interviewing, hiring, training, orientation, developing job guides and schedules for direct reports
  • Evaluates the performance of direct reports and conducts performance reviews
  • Actively audits and enforces working practices to ensure efficient, effective and safe operations
  • Provides educational staff sessions and meetings for staff
  • Participates in the mentoring of the dietetic internship program interns
  • Participates in the development of department quality improvement projects
  • Performs various diet office duties such as modifying patients #39; menus based on therapeutic diet orders and department guidelines, diet and menu entry, report printing, etc..
  • Prepares and maintains monthly accounting reports for food and supplies
  • Performs cross-functional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved Food and Nutrition Management Program at a Community College or a University Graduate of a Food and Nutrition Program
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (C.S.N.M.)
  • Food Handler Certification
  • Previous related supervisory experience in a unionized healthcare environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop front-line staff
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diet guidelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of CBORD computer software is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently to accomplish daily tasks
