The successful candidate will have to be very versatile, autonomous and resourceful as he will work in different markets and in different and sometimes even difficult weather conditions.Main Job Duties / Accountabilities include:Apply versatility, autonomy, and resourcefulness in different markets and in extreme weather conditions with long periods of darkness in NunavikPerform multiple occupations on a regular and consistent basisSolve problems and make decisions that are unique to working in an isolated environment with very limited access to face-to-face supportAs necessary, agree to undergo a background security check to meet a customer’s clearance requirement.Central Office:Provision and maintain of the networkProvide support in the event of a network outage, to minimize cycle time, and ensure all services are available to our customersComplete all assurance and routines to ensure the network is working at optimum levelsPlan, coordinate, and ensure all activities related to daily work and projects are completed following company practices and processes. (i.e.; change management rules, etc.)Perform tasks associated with the provisioning, service assurance, maintenance and project coordination with technologies that include transport, broadband, IP, switching and frame in CO’s huts, CEV’s, WICs etc.Partner with various internal and external parties (“X”NOC, PCMC, BDA, vendors, etc.)Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on microwave and/or satellite radio systemsBusiness Market:Install, maintain and repair of different telecommunication equipment for the Voice, Internet and IPTV markets for business customers in accordance with established practicesRespond to customers’ needs and inform them on the utilization of different equipment or servicesEscalate events beyond his/her control to support teamsBuild relationships and interact with clients and various groups within Bell CanadaDeliver services to Voice, SMB and Enterprise market customers at the level of installing and repairing network systems and applications (application servers, switches, routers and other network equipment) for business customersImplement, upgrade, do preventive maintenance and repair in the event of an outage for the router and switch systems of our large business customersIndependently coordinate activities surrounding the installation of new products and services, in close collaboration with the Sales teams and in keeping with the team’s mandate, to ensure excellent customer serviceDeliver services to Voice and Bell Business Market customers at the level of installing and repairing Key systems, PBX, IP telephony systems and applications for business customersImplement, upgrade, repair (in the event of an outage) and carry out preventive maintenance for all PBXs and applications used by Bell Canadas Outright Sales customers (Avaya Blue products i.e.; Nortel Norstar, BCM 50, 400, 450 and CS1K products i.e.; 11C, 61C, 81C and Call Pilot applications, Toshiba, Avaya, etc.)Essential Qualifications / Skills:Technician performs his work duties while in NunavikCandidates who are part of the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have;A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experienceCandidates from outside the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experienceA minimum of a high school diplomaSuccessfully completed a valid 2 days first aid course within the last 3 yearsFluent in French and working knowledge in EnglishHold a valid driver’s license - Class 5Capable to drive a snowmobile or Quad bike (commonly known as four-wheelers)Possess good manual dexterity and able to work with different hand toolsCapable to lift and carry heavy weightCapable to climb telephone poles and/or climb and carry laddersCapable to kneel and bend and work in areas with restricted movementCapable of differentiating coloured wires (colour code)Capable to safely execute all functions/aspects of the job and meet all safety requirements associated with the work equipmentAbility to work autonomously and with minimal supervisionAbility to make decisions promptly and manage risks while under pressureAnalytical thinking and problem solving abilitiesCO Technician:Basic knowledge of the Transport Network (DS0/DS1/DS3)Basic knowledge of the broadband networkBasic knowledge of IP networkBasic knowledge of switching equipment in particular DMSBasic knowledge of Central Office power requirementsBasic knowledge of electricity and DC power plantsBasic knowledge of the IP networkBasic knowledge regarding the use and maintenance of both permanent and portable stand-by generatorsBasic knowledge of the Outside Plant Modules (Remotes)Business Market:Intermediate knowledge of the outside plantIntermediate knowledge of telecommunicationsIntermediate knowledge of the IP networkIntermediate knowledge in computer fundamentals and ability to configure routersIntermediate knowledge working with IPTV installation and repairIntermediate knowledge with installation/repair of business voice and internet technologiesIntermediate knowledge with FTTB installation and repairIntermediate knowledge with installation and repair of LCL circuitsIntermediate knowledge of the outside plant, telecom equipment, and telecom networkIntermediate knowledge with the following products:RoutersSwitchesIntermediate knowledge with the following products:firewall internet securitywireless technologyBasic knowledge of LAN and WAN network design ISO layers, security solutions, VPN, wireless and VOIPBasic knowledge of VMWARE and IBM, HP server productsIntermediate knowledge of traditional core data technologies such as DS0, DS1, DS3 transmissionIntermediate knowledge of the outside plantIntermediate knowledge on two (2) of the following voice products:Avaya Blue Key Systems Norstar, BCM 50, 400, 450Avaya Blue CSK1000 option 11, 61, 81, call piloteAvaya Red Systems: IPOToshibaMitelCisco UC seriesWorking Conditions:The candidate must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs (schedules within a given day are prepared by the Company with due consideration to seniority), to participate in a standby program and work overtime as needed.
