  • Pinehurst Lake Recreation Area - located in Lakeland Provincial Park near Lac La Biche
  • Whitney Lakes Provincial Park - about 2 hr from Edmonton
  • Cold Lake Provincial Park – near Bonnyville and Cold Lake
  • Hilliard’s Bay Provincial Park – near Slake Lake
RoleInformation Officers (IOs) are the first point of contact for visitors to Provincial Park campgrounds. Their role in the permit booth is to create a positive experience for visitors by providing useful and timely information around park activities, rules and regulations, and nearby amenities.Booth Operations
  • Understand the Reserve Alberta Parks (RAP) software and functions to register campers, update visitor information, and process payments or refunds using the system
  • Operate cash register and point of sale machine
  • Daily opening and closing tasks, ensuring booth locations are clean, secure and safe
  • Participate in all required booth operations, including camper compliance, group and extra unit counts, opening/closing day use buildings and group use areas and daily cleaning
Administrative Duties
  • Learn and adhere to all pertinent policies, procedures and protocols including campground rules and regulations and GOA directives
  • Complete daily cash-outs and accurately enter data into Excel workbooks
  • Review and reconcile camping revenue for daily cash-outs
  • Record and organize statistics for public visitation and demographics required
Visitor & Information Services
  • Respond to in-person and telephone/e-mail requests for information on area amenities and recreational activities
  • Advise public of various rules, policies and regulations that apply within a Provincial Park
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant activities, opportunities, and conditions (trails, water, fishing, etc.) to provide to the public
  • Plan and deliver activities to support special events
QualificationsEducation
  • High school diploma
Additional Requirements:
  • Customer service, cash handling and/or administrative experience
  • Strong English language proficiency
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
  • Available to work evening and weekend shifts during the season
  • Recognized current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C / AED Certificate
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Publisher)
Assets:
  • Familiarity with campground operations, campground etiquette and surrounding Park amenities
  • Experience with Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
NotesTerms of Employment
  • Seasonal contract from mid-April or May with end dates of September
  • Evening and weekend work will be required. A premium is paid for these shifts
  • Work week is based on 40 hours per week
  • Access to reliable transportation to and from place of work as there is no public transportation to any of the Park locations
  • Adherence to Alberta Parks uniform policy
  • These positions require some outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Shared rental accommodation may be available
  • Training will be provided to successful candidates
  • Selected individuals will be asked to bring three references, preferably work-related to interview
