Through our commitment to Responsible Care®, we take pride in our focus on safety and responsibility.We are seeking a Control Systems Specialist to join our Process Automation Team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. Reporting to the Process Automation Team Leader, your primary responsibility will be to provide the AspenTech IP.21 Historian technical support.You Will Use Your Expertise To:Support the AspenTech IP.21 Historian.Maintain and upgrade servers for Pavilion APC.Support Alarm & Event Management Server (Matrikon/Dynamo).Provide support for Acronis Backup, Terminal Server and Symantec Management ServerSupport the Honeywell Control Performance Monitor Server and Event Prediction Modeler Servers.Build and maintain Domain Controllers.Coordinate with IT and Process Automation to deliver single discipline systems projects in the Units.Maintain SQLplus code for custom applications.Provide systems support creating and maintaining Batch/PowerShell scripts with documentation.Ensure Automation Networks are meeting NOVA best practices for Security.What We Are Looking For:B.Sc. in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or Technologist equivalentTwo to fifteen years of manufacturing plant experience.Candidates eligible for registration with APEGA or ASET would be considered an asset.Understanding of Relational Database Structures (Primarily Microsoft MSSQL) and at minimum a basic understanding of the Structured Query Language (SQL) to extract information as requested by third parties.Strong working knowledge of the Windows Server Operating System (Versions since 2003).Scripting experience (VBScript, WinBatch, Powershell, etc.) or coding ability.Demonstrated experience maintaining Real-Time Database Structures.Working knowledge of OPC.Basic Networking and Firewall Security knowledge.Experience with Virtualization (Both Hyper-V and VMWare) is an asset.Server and Workstation System Hardware knowledge with knowledge of hardware lifecycle management.Demonstrated ability to deliver results and proven organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care values.Ability to adapt and contribute within a dynamic and changing environment and work supportively within an operating, highly reliable environment.You Can Stand Out If:You are passionate about your work and put care and thought into all that you do.You are responsible and follow through with your commitments to others and to safety.You are innovative and are willing to challenge your biases when problem solving.You are collaborative , inclusive, and work well with others towards team goals.Why NOVA ChemicalsNOVA Chemicals’ flexible benefit programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of our employees, because when it comes to benefits, everyone has different priorities.
