Sales SpecialistLower Mainland – Langley, BCPermanent Full-TimeReference Number:CAN-BC-LAN-201-161224SUMMARYReporting to the Sales Manager in Langley, BC, the Sales Specialist is an expert resource on Building Materials and Siding Products to the customers.Focusing on residential and commercial business development, this role is responsible for introducing and promoting Doman’s portfolio of Siding Products to designers, specifiers, architects, building owners, developers/contractors, installers, municipalities, and dealers as needed.The Sales Specialist must understand the supply chain process of a building material wholesaler to facilitate and monitor sales opportunities. The Sales Specialist is responsible for converting new customers, upgrading existing customers, promoting manufacturers’ programs, working with our existing customer base and sourcing new business opportunities in the assigned territory in the Lower Mainland. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

• Develop and establish relationships with architects, specifiers, developers/contractors, engineers, and building owners in the territory to promote Doman’s Siding Products, and to identify new business opportunities for the account managers.
• Work with manufacturers’ representatives to develop and implement strategic growth for Doman’s Siding Products.
• Determine customers’ needs by demonstrating knowledge of the industry, pricing, competition, and develop effective proposals for presentation.
• Promote the selection of products by providing technical data and samples to architects, developers/contractors, engineers, and designers for current and future projects.
• Provide product knowledge, product recommendations, and pricing assistance for project budgeting purposes and material take-offs.May require review of blueprints, drawings, plans, and other customer documents.
• Work with product managers, and sales managers to achieve a consistent and focused approach on achieving business objectives for each product line.
• Conduct educational sessions and presentations for architects through the architect associations.
• Participate in trade shows as one of Doman’s technical experts at the Doman booth.
• Continually source opportunities to increase sales and promote manufacturers’ programs.
• Develop awareness of ongoing and potential construction projects.

• Maintain diligence with call planning, reporting, and follow-ups to ensure an effective communication loop is maintained with customers, operations, Sales Manager, and General Manager.

RequirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESSales

• Previous outside sales experience required in the business-to-business market.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills – both oral and written.
• Ability to develop strong business relationships with major accounts, specifiers, architects, building owners, developers/contractors, installers, municipalities, and designers.
• Understand the sale process, comfortable with call planning and reporting.
• Have met or exceeded sales targets on a consistent basis.
• Experience in selling at both program level and transactional level.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and deal structuring skills.
• Maintain positive and enthusiastic attitude even in adverse situations.
• Professionally aggressive, “hunter” personality.
• Strong listening skills and technical aptitude.

Technical

• Building industry or trade experience is preferred.
• High level understanding of construction, blueprints, and building methods is required.
• Ability to conduct research and source potential construction projects out for tender.

Other

• Good computer skills; very comfortable with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and CRM systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a capacity to influence sales, in person and over the phone, with customers at various levels
• Write emails, letters, and sales documents in a professional manner.
• Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driving record.Maintaining a clean driving record is a condition of employment.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport to travel to the United States.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma is a minimum requirement.
• Formal sales training is required.
• Post-secondary education in business or building industry is preferred.

BenefitsCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• The typical hiring range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.
