Key activities are in support of the accounting function for a specified site and/or process.This position is located in Lanigan, Saskatchewan and has the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement.What you will do:The Sr. Accountant is part of a team responsible for the efficient day to day operations of the Accounting Department with major emphasis on: capital accounting, completion of month end procedures including preparation of journal entries, review of the general and subsidiary ledgers, and analyzing financials and communicating the results with management and various stakeholders. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • All aspects of capital project accounting. This includes preparing monthly reports, presentations, communicating with other departments and management to obtain information on the status of capital projects and associated cash flows, and maintaining project cost records
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset ledger including depreciation, asset additions, disposals, and verifications
  • Responsible for performing month end duties including cost and classification review of the general ledger, performing cut-off, and preparing journal entries
  • Acting as a liaison with other departments to assist with financial analysis and communications on accounting policy and procedures
  • Reviewing the general and subsidiary ledgers, on a monthly basis, to ensure accounting procedures are followed, making adjusting entries when needed
  • Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects
What you will bring:
  • A CPA designation
  • A Bachelor #39;s degree in Accounting from a recognized institution
  • 5+ years accounting experience preferred
  • Strong computer (MS Office - Excel) skills
  • Oracle experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with IFRS and GAAP, possessing a strong working knowledge and application of the concepts
  • Demonstrate positive safety behavior and safety leadership
  • Ability to perform effectively in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated time management skills, and ability to prioritize when involved with multiple initiatives and changing priorities
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently
